You may not be aware that, although we are authors, we function primarily as a husband and wife Christian counseling team. We have been serving in this role since starting The Father’s Heart Ministry in 1995. Since 2006, we have been providing 2- to 5-day intensive counseling retreats for individuals and for marriages at our location in the Northeast Georgia Mountains. We  have been blessed to have had people come for these intensives from across the United States and around the globe.

Christian Counseling Intensives with Jerry and Denise

We were very blessed to have a client share the following testimony of her counseling experience with us . . .

Five stars for The Missing Commandment: Love Yourself.  I enthusiastically recommend it! The truths in the book are life- changing.

But even more so, I have had the incredible privilege of personally working through the content with the authors. If you have felt an impact, a stirring in your soul that, perhaps, you have never quite grasped the concept of loving yourself the way God intended, read this book. Watch the DVD. But, if you truly want to experience life change, sit across from Jerry and Denise. It is a sacred space where God seems to show up to speak. How many times  have you read a book or heard a speaker and wished you could share a cup of coffee and get their insight on your particular problem? In this case, it’s possible. Do it. Don’t just read the book, set it back on the shelf, and wish that life could change for you. God wants so much more for you!

Unless you somehow managed to come through life unaffected by poor parenting (and who among us have managed to parent perfectly?), damaging relationships, skewed body images, self- esteem that has been warped by how we perceive other’s lives on social media, you need to find your way to Father’s Heart. If a trip to North Georgia isn’t feasible (though people have made the trek from all over the world to be counseled by Jerry and Denise), by all means, read the book! Even if you do manage to score an intensive with the Basels, buy the book any way. You’ll find yourself wanting to recommend it to those who clearly aren’t loving themselves very well.
